AB  - The article presents Jan Vičar, a professor at Czech and foreign universities, a musicologist and composer, who is one of the leading figures in contemporary Czech music and musicology with extensive publishing activities. His compositional work is characterized by postmodernism, neoclassicism, folklore and jazz inspirations and the use of avant-garde techniques. He imprinted his relationship with choral singing in many choral cycles, inspired by Moravian folklore or texts by the poet Jiří Žáček.
