"85 let Kühnova dětského sboru" (1932-2017)

Jiří Chlum

Kühn's children choir is a phenomenon, which is enchanting the audience for 85 years by spontaneity of children's singing. Pure sound and sometimes even naive naturalness of voices are irreplaceable trumps of this body, which has gone a long way since its foundation. There were many generation changes and it has become a living legend in the history of Czech music culture. Irreplaceability of this children choir is not only in its mastery and contribution to culture but also in its pedagogical and educational role. Being a member of the choir at different stages of child's development arouses interest in music, develops imagination, social skills and ability to work in favour of all. Current choirmasters and their methods of work with children reflect population development of the choir. New young singers are replacing the growing ones and so the choir does not grow old.
